Ticket on Sundays

The most useful thing you can do next is send this page to a neighbor. And if you see an overflowing dumpster this weekend, here's how to report it so it counts.

That form came through blank. Put in your name, or anything at all, and try again.

To the Commissioner of Streets and Sanitation, and to everyone running for mayor of Chicago:

Rat infestations grow out of control because dumpsters overflow with garbage over the weekend, but the City writes almost all of its tickets for that garbage on weekdays. In 2026, only 108 of 8,974 rat-harborage tickets, about 1 in 80, were written on a Saturday or a Sunday.

We're asking for two things:

  1. Send sanitation inspectors out on weekend afternoons, all over the city.
  2. Count neighbors' photos as evidence. A CHI311 report with a dated, located photo of overflowing garbage should be enough to ticket the owner.

The rules are already on the books - let's enforce them.
